Chris West has a Doctorate in Ecology from the University of Oxford. He set up a business in the environmental services sector. Following the successful UK and international growth of this enterprise he then took on the role of senior environment adviser at the UK Department for International Development. In this capacity he worked with governments, NGO’s and businesses in over 60 emerging economies. Chris joined Shell Foundation soon after its launch in 2000 as Deputy Director. In this role he reinforced an “enterprise-based” approach to catalysing scalable solutions to global development challenges. He was appointed SF Director in 2008.
