Dorinda Elliott was the Global Affairs Editor at Condé Nast Traveler, where she edited, wrote, and spearheaded the magazine’s coverage of ethical travel and social responsibility in the travel industry. She produced a monthly interview with global citizens, from Tony Blair on tourism as a vehicle for peace in the Middle East to Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg on climate change and Madeline Albright on America’s role in the world.

Dorinda is also Editor at Large at ChinaFile where she helps curate the ChinaFile Conversation. She has had a life-long interest in China, dating back to her studies in Taiwan as an undergraduate in 1978. She covered the beginnings of China’s economic reforms in 1984 for BusinessWeek magazine, and served as Beijing bureau chief for Newsweek magazine from 1987 to 1990. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.

Dorinda served as Assistant Managing Editor at Time magazine and Editor of Time’s Asiaweek. She was a foreign correspondent for 20 years for Newsweek magazine in Hong Kong, Beijing and Moscow.
