Lukas Haynes is Executive Director of the David Rockefeller Fund in New York, where he manages all operations and oversees grants programs for the Arts, Criminal Justice, and Environment. He was previously vice president of the Mertz Gilmore Foundation and from 2002-06, Lukas managed $10 million in annual grants for the Global Security and Sustainability program of the MacArthur Foundation.
Lukas’ career began with field work for the International Crisis Group and Oxfam UK in the Balkans and West Africa. From 2000-01, he served Secretary of State Madeleine Albright on the Policy Planning Staff of the U.S. State Department and before that did policy research for the Salzburg Global Seminar, International Peace Academy, and Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
Lukas serves on the Board of Directors of the U.S.-based Protect Our Winters and the advisory boards of the Center for Climate and Security and the Truman Center for National Policy.
His passion is skiing and his most personal calling is Lulu’s Fund, created in his 4 year-old daughter’s memory, to support family aid for early childhood education.
