Globally, 780 million people lack access to safe drinking water and 2.6 billion lack access to basic sanitation services.
The Soneva Foundation (formerly The SLOW LIFE Foundation) has been able to help over 600,000 people access either safe drinking water or basic sanitation services from funds raised from drinking water which is filtered and bottled in reusable glass bottles on site.
Following the 2011 Symposium, participants Karena Albers and Jenifer Willig partnered with The Soneva Foundation to take this concept and extend it to the whole of the hospitality industry.
The simple premise of WHOLE WORLD Water is to follow Soneva Resorts’ example: hotels bottle their own filtered drinking water, sell it and contribute 10% of water revenues to clean water projects around the world. It is estimated that if the hospitality industry unites over this issue, $1bn could be raised annually.
